Pricing art is often the problem when deciding how to sell work at the right price . The right price will be above what you feel comfortable with if you feel that the price is low then it probably is and you should charge more if you don’t feel like you’re overcharging a little bit then you’re probably undercharging.
A nice system to use ,there are two , one is you use the measurements of the painting for example a 9×12 painting you would add 9+12 and then you have the multiplying factor to have it final price so if you’re multiplying factor is 2 then it will be 9+12×2 =42
The other way is to instead multiply the measurements for example 9×12 and then you will multiply it by your multiplying factor so if you’re multiplying factor is 2 will be 9×12×2=216
You see there is a big difference between the two so for very small pieces it makes sense to use one method it depends on how much you were trying to make if you’re a full-time artist you need to charge enough to make a living.
Consistency is the key buyers will not buy if they feel confused about your pricing people buy more when they can understand what they’re paying for, so be consitent. Read the rest of this entry
